London Grammar are an English indie pop band formed in Nottingham in 2009. The band consists of Hannah Reid, Dan Rothman, and Dominic “Dot” Major.[5][9] Their debut extended playMetal & Dust, was released in 2013 by Metal & Dust Recordings; [10] their debut album, If You Wait (2013), reached No. 2 on the UK Albums Chart and was certified Double Platinum by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI). The band’s next two studio albums, Truth Is a Beautiful Thing (2017) and Californian Soil (2021), both reached number 1 on the UK Albums Chart.[6][7][8]

London Grammar’s music has been described as “a blend of ambient, ethereal and classical sounds”[38] with melancholy guitar, soaring vocals, plaintive lyrics, and often displaying trip-hop and dance influences. Hannah Reid’s powerful, haunting vocals – prominent on all of London Grammar’s tracks released to date – are often compared to those of Judie Tzuke and Florence Welch.[39] The songs are a collaborative effort, as Reid explains: “I write the lyrics and the top lines. But the songs initiate from all three of us. Dot will write a piano part or a music score. Dan will add some guitars.”[14] She describes the songs as “emotionally affected” and said that she “writes about people who come in and out of my life.”[40]

The Essence – Topic he Essence is a new wave/gothic rock band from Rotterdam, The Netherlands, formed in 1984 and fronted by singer, songwriter and guitarist, Hans Diener.
Signed to Midnight Music in 1985 after a year of gigging, their début album Purity (1986) was released to great acclaim, preceded by the 12-inch single, ‘Endless Lakes’, which was especially succesful in Holland and Germany.
1987 saw the release of the follow-up album, A Monument of Trust, plus the single ‘A Mirage’, a catchy tune that cracked the Top 10 in Spain. It was then that The Essence started to tour Europe extensively, building up a strong and faithful following in amongst others, France, Germany, Spain, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
The popularity of the band continued to grow with the release of the third album. Ecstasy (1988).

are an English rock band formed in Crawley, West Sussex in 1976 by guitarist, lead vocalist, and main songwriter Robert Smith and drummer Laurence Tolhurst.[1] Throughout numerous lineup changes since the band’s formation, including stints of guitarist Porl Thompson and drummer Boris Williams, Smith has remained the only constant member, though bassist Simon Gallup has been present for all but about three years of the band’s history. The band’s current line-up features Smith and Gallup alongside longtime members, Roger O’Donnell (keyboards), Perry Bamonte (guitar), Jason Cooper (drums) and Reeves Gabrels (guitar).

Their debut album, Three Imaginary Boys (1979), along with several early singles, placed the band at the forefront of the emerging post-punk and new wave movements that were gaining prominence in the United Kingdom. Beginning with their second album, Seventeen Seconds (1980), the band adopted a new, increasingly dark and tormented style, which, together with Smith’s stage look, had a strong influence on the emerging genre of gothic rock as well as the goth subculture that eventually formed around the genre.

After the release of the band’s fourth album, Pornography (1982), Smith introduced a greater pop sensibility into the band’s music, and they subsequently garnered worldwide mainstream success. Their singles compilation Standing on a Beach (1986) sold four million copies worldwide by 1989,[2] and they reached their commercial peak with the albums Disintegration (1989) and Wish (1992). The Cure have released 14 studio albums, two EPs, and over 40 singles, and have sold over 30 million albums worldwide.[3] Their most recent album, Songs of a Lost World, was released on 1 November 2024. The Cure were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2019.[4][5]

The Cure – A Fragile Thing (Official Lyric Video) The Cure

“Every time you kiss me, I could cry, ” she said
“Don’t tell me how you miss me, I could die tonight of a broken heart
This loneliness has changed me, and we’ve been too far apart
And it’s too late now for me to just forget
I never thought I’d need to feel regret for all I never was
But all this time alone has left me hurt and sad and lost
Yeah, every time you kiss me, I could cry
Don’t tell me how you miss me, I could die tonight of a broken heart
This loneliness has changed me, we have been too far apart”

“And there’s nothing you can do to change it back, ” she said
“Nothing you can do but sing, this love is a fragile thing
Nothing you can do now but pretend again”
“Nothing you can do to change it back, ” she said
“Nothing you can do but sing, this love is a fragile thing
This love is my everything, but nothing you can do to change the end”
No, nothing you can do (nothing you can do, nothing you can do)

“Every time you leave me is a lie, ” she said
“You make believe you need me, but you try too hard, and it feels so wrong
You promise me forever, and you say it won’t be long
But it’s too late now for me to just forget
I never thought I’d need to feel regret for all I never was
But all this time alone has left me hurt and sad and lost
Yeah, every time you leave me is a lie
You make believe you need me, but you try too hard, and it feels so wrong
You promise me forever, and you say it won’t be long”

“And there’s nothing you can do to change it back, ” she said
“Nothing you can do but sing, this love is a fragile thing
Nothing you can do now but pretend again”
“Nothing you can do to change it back, ” she said
“Nothing you can do but sing, this love is a fragile thing
This love is my everything, but nothing you can do to change the end”
No, nothing you can do to change the end
