Redundant Nature , Steven Canham’s music vehicle has grown in scope and depth since inception. We at Artstrada Magazine have been lucky to review Redundant Nature’s music in the past, and we have the luxury of watching this music machine grow over time.

IN ORDER OF REVIEW (Not Album Order)

Redundant Nature > DISCONNECTED (rebuilt Version) BandCamp

Disconnected is a great example of this growth. Multi-layered and emotional. It hits to the center of the soul. Reminding this reviewer of Skinny Puppy’s early work. This is exciting stuff. Check this out now!

We are waiting…

Redundant Nature > ANCESTORY BandCamp

Once again, this is gorgeous stuff. My favorite music by Reduandant Nature is crawling out of the samples in these manifestations of sound. Halloween has a soundtrack!! YES.
Saving my ancient soul. Music is the answer. listen.

Redundant Nature > DISCONNECTED > DREAD RISKS HIDDEN AGENDA REMIX BandCamp

Pulsating and undulating. Sexy noise. Industrial music. This is remembering many of the lessons of sound and applying them here. Exciting. Fire is rising. Gases released. Furnaces fueled. BURN BURN LIKE A FIRE, BURN BURN MY MUSIC PYRE..

Redundant Nature > DISCONNECTED > REMIX BY L BandCamp

What does L bring to this mix. We have a faster danceable track. We have ignition and liftoff. Getting more KMFDMesque in this mix but still dark and brooding. This is the song of blacklights and Strobes. Seizure warning here. You were warned.

Redundant Nature > DISCONNECTED > COPPER THIEF REMIX by BLACK MAGIC CYBORG BandCamp

Bringing a retro fusion to the Disconnected mixture. This mix sounds to me more Further down the spiral sounding. Crunchy. Good.

Redundant Nature > DISCONNECTED > WE’RE GOING TO SURVIVE BandCamp

My FAVORITE TRACK by Redundant Nature. Speaks to me. Subliminally. Lovely dubs and a crackin track!

INTERVIEW with Steven Canham [ REDUNDANT NATURE] Steven Canham is an American film score composer [see Nosferatu (Gore Noir Edition Soundtrack)] and electronic magician born in 1983 in the United States. He started recording music and sounds around the age of fourteen and has worked with many musicians and projects since 2000.

QUESTION 1:  Steven, you have been a very driven individual in the pursuit of your music. What do you feel drives you?

[Steven Canham] “What drives me is the idea of creating music: that I can express emotions, concepts, and human stories: Contrasting our stories that actually happened in the past and changed over time with stories that could’ve evolved but perhaps did not.”

QUESTION2: Steven, the music genre in which you find yourself: Who do you consider your peers?  Influences?

[Steven Canham] “I see my influences from Front Line Assembly, Hans Zimmer, Ministry, lots different synthwave, and lots experimental post-punk lately.”

QUESTION3: Steven, in the past you have dabbled with the idea of a tour.

Any word on that? any culmination or expansion of such an idea?

[Steven Canham] “Yes, there’s still a thought and now a possible closer outlook: I will be getting to work on backing tracks, and rehearsing funds around early/mid ’22.”

QUESTION4: Steven, much has been happening around us. How has current events impacted your music or lyrics?  Do you see any relationship between your art and current craziness?  What are your thoughts of the future?

[Steven Canham] “The current times have manifested various elements throughout this latest Ep: Just the idea to learn how to stay alive and the human race learning from our past history and experiences passed through our bloodlines.”

QUESTION 5: Steven, if you could choose one band on planet earth to collaborate with, who if any, would it be? and why?

[Steven Canham] “It would be Thomas Holkenborg (Junkie XL). I picked him because he’s been around doing his thing since ’97 with electronics but led to fil composing for a little while now. I felt inspired how he has different dynamics of creating. It would be pretty rad.”

THANK YOU STEVEN!!! We are so happy to find you creating and commend you on this awesome work you have done with Re: connected!
